Hanging Out With Marriage Confessions

On Saturday, Katie from Marriage Confessions was doing a meet and greet in Atlanta. The timing worked out perfectly for us as CT3 and I were already going to be in town for the Tech game, so we just planned on scooting over to meet them prior to heading downtown to tailgate.

The meet and greet was really low key and it was fun hanging out with Katie, Chris, Bean, Gracie, Ginny, John Michael and others who I have no clue who they were. I met a fellow blogger named Arden and she brought cupcakes to the meet and greet. In my book, if you bring sugar you equal hero status and with one swift move, Arden was my hero.

In fact, I almost went for the cupcakes before even greeting Katie. Then I remembered my good southern manners and I made small talk as I eyed the sugary goodness.

Now, I know all of you want the skinny on Katie and family and I am happy to share with you that they are WONDERFUL and just liked I imagined them! They were laid back, funny and welcoming. Katie was so sweet, chatty and down to earth and thanks to already being her imaginary friend via blog land, I totally felt like I was meeting up with an old friend.

Conversation was casual and we chatted about family life, work, kids, blogs and everything in between. CT3 chatted with John Michael and Chris and later said in the car that they were really nice too. They made him feel comfortable - which I was thankful for as I don't think poor hubby knew what he was in getting into when I told him we were off to meet a few random people.

At one point, other people walked up and Katie went to greet her fans. Chris came over and I asked him when he would be making his reentry into blog land. Unfortunately, he did not have a good answer for me, but I am thinking that maybe we can light a fire under Katie and get ole Chris back on the blog-wagon. Chris and I also chatted about our love of shuttle launches and Bean came up and we discussed the animals at the zoo.

Chris was really really friendly and it was awesome seeing their family dynamics and how the four of them work together. Bean and Gracie are as cute as pie and Ginny was as friendly and outgoing as Katie has always described her.

Bean was into his Toy Story figures and at one point, CT3 bent down and turned the martian one around. That was apparently not the way Mr. Martian man was supposed to face and Bean let CT3 know it with a few wails and tears.

Yep. My sweet husband made Bean man cry.

With that, I stole cupcakes and ran.

Just kidding.

Chris had to console poor Bean and CT3 felt bad for upsetting him. I think the travel and random strangers staring at Bean had finally gotten to him and the last thing he wanted was his one-eyed martian being messed with by some weird stranger who's wife reads his moms blog. I couldn't blame the poor little guy.

After about an hour, it began getting a bit chilly out and we we were anxious to head to the game. In true blogger fashion, I begged for a few pictures and Katie, Chris and Gracie happily obliged.

Bean said over his dead body would he get in a photo with the evil man who messed with his toys.

{Annnnd I have a cupcake in hand. Really Lauren??}

Post pictures we traded blog addys {well Arden and I exchanged and Katie politely took ours} and bid our farewells.

I was really glad I was able to run over and meet Katie and company. Its so fun connecting with people in real life especially after you feel like you have followed them for so long and already kind of know them.

Thanks to Ginny for planning it all and for Katie and Chris making the effort!

Katie, we love you and your blog and we thank you for opening up and sharing your life with all of us! Come visit us in Atlanta again soon!

Shhh don't tell...I really did steal one for the car.
