I will admit that it was a bit weird being home this year.
Instead of on the road and just showing up places when we were supposed to be there, we were now hosting. Instead of being guests, we were expecting guests. Instead of planning times, I was determining them.
It was great but next year, I will be more prepared. Like, Kristin and I will not leave the babies with my parents at 4:00 PM on Christmas Eve to make a store run for Cokes and toilet paper - only to realize at 8:30 that night after everything is closed that we have no butter or cheese and the paper towels are almost out. Round these parts, nothing is open after 6 PM or on Christmas Day so we were out of luck - though after an hour and a half of driving around CT3 did arrive home with butter in hand, thanks to some generous and prepared friends of ours!
Anyhoo, my parents rolled in on the afternoon of Christmas Eve and as soon as CT3 got home from work, we left them with Brother Bear while AM, CT3 and I ran to a 6 PM candle light service. We got home and had a Honeybaked Ham for dinner with a few sides. It was delish! At some point Kristin and AM had a dance session, we took a few Christmas pj's pictures and then we set out the obligatory cookies for Santa.
In fact we waited til after AM went to bed because we have a little cookie and milk monster who wouldnt have understood that they werent hers for the taking. Santa needed a little help getting the kitchen through the chimney and adding the stickers on it so CT3, Dad, Kristin and I all pitched in. Mom I think was cleaning the kitchen??
It was weird having Santa visit our house and us being the one's responsible for helping Santa get his act together. I cant say that we were all that quiet or sneaky or really even cared about covering our tracks. Santa threw a sheet over the door and got to work WHILE Anne Margaret was still awake. The North Pole and Santa's workshop at its finest! I guess next year we may have to up the ante and be a bit more cautious?! CT3 was tired and just wanted to go to bed and I just wanted everything to look pretty for pictures. We took turns wearing the Santa hat - as it felt like the appropriate thing to do.

This year may be the only year we get a pass on the early morn's as it was probably 9:45 AM before Anne Margaret was awake. We had to go and get the little rascal up! After that, she cautiously made her way around the corner as I am not sure she really knew what to expect. After she saw the set up, she still wasnt sure what to make of it until we told her that it was for her - which after that, she jumped right in!
Christmas morning was fun and filled with the traditional cinnamon rolls that Mom always makes us {Pillsbury!}! We facetimed with Mimi and Grandad and projected it on our TV which was fun! It took us the better part of the day to get through presents. Brother Bear slept through all of the fun and AM would open one thing and then want to play with it. We could have given her one thing and she would have been happy as a clam!
CT3 and I did not do stockings for each other and AM's big gift was the kitchen play set. We had grandparents give her accessories to go along with it and AM could not have been happier! AM was also quite thrilled with the $2 jelly bracelets and the Hello Kitty undies she got - and she wore them ON TOP of her pants all day long!
That night, we celebrated the birth of our savior with a yummy pot roast. We topped it off with a "Happy Birthday" cake and singing to Jesus.
We were glad to wake up in our little house this year and we were glad to have my family here! Of course we missed everyone else but it was nice just being home.
