The Fourth

The past week or so has been fantastic!! I think I started to get all patriotic and in the mood for the 4th of July when I went to the laser show last weekend with Emily and Brett. The laser show always brings back memories of childhood summers and it was good to relive those days.

Briefly, my two cents on the laser show, was that it was good, but they changed the grand finale song....it has ALWAYS been "Proud To Be An American," and this year no more. Some how it just seems wrong and I was not a fan of that. Anyway, some of the other parts were a little strange, but I will let you decide for yourself. Still worth the $8 to get into the park.

Now that I was all patriotic and firework ready, all I needed to do was convince CT3 that he wanted to take me away for the weekend...convincing wasn't really needed as he was pretty excited himself.

Savannah was the destination of choice. Hotel rooms booked, work schedules fixed and we were off on our mini vacation. Here, it is important to note that the "work schedules fixed" really meant that this was CT3's weekend to FINALLY transition to day shift!!! Praise the Lord!!! After 3 years on nights, it was long overdue. They gave him an extra day to flip his body, which basically gave us an extra day to get stuff done and play in Savannah!

Anyway, the weekend was a blast. We stayed in some normal, non-expensive, doors on the outside of the building hotel about 5 miles from downtown. Friday, we spent the day on Tybee Island and a couple of hours at the beach. That night, we went to River Street, ate a fancy dinner and got tickets to go out on the River Boat to watch 4th of July fireworks! They were amazing and it was lots of fun being in a different setting for the Fourth!

Saturday, we had plans to go see "The Beat Goes On" at The Historic Savannah Theater. If we had time, we were also going to go to an art museum, but we were tight on time AND it started to storm, so instead we shopped. I bought some art from a local artist and have already framed it. Maybe tonight, I will hang it....and then of course post pictures!

The show at the Theater was phenomenal and I would highly recommend any travelers to catch a show there. Post show, we left to head back home.

All in all it was a great 4th of July weekend. I may post more pics tomorrow, my computer was just being weird and I got tired of messing with it....

Pin It Now!
